NC 529 Hosts Third Annual Kick-Off to Kindergarten Event at Marbles Kids Museum

Starting kindergarten is a big life event for both students and parents. Like with most big changes, the key to a successful transition into a new environment is preparation. Upon entering kindergarten, students should be on their way to mastering skills like spelling their name, memorizing their address, reciting the alphabet and more. But beyond academic preparation, children will have an easier time on their first day if they know what to expect. Events like NC 529’s Kick-Off to Kindergarten at Marbles Kids Museum are a great way for students to get a taste of what’s to come.

What is Kick-Off to Kindergarten?

Kick-Off to Kindergarten is an annual event presented by The NC 529® Plan, the North Carolina College Savings Program, and hosted at Marbles Kids Museum located in Downtown Raleigh at 201 East Hargett Street. This year, the year-round calendar kick-off event will be on Thursday, June 21 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the traditional calendar kick-off event will be on Saturday, August 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This event is free for rising kindergartners and their families. At Kick-Off to Kindergarten, students can get ready for the school year while their parents learn more about the importance of saving for college.

Prepare for the School Year Ahead

At Kick-Off to Kindergarten, students and parents can celebrate the start of a new school year! Students will have the opportunity to practice new school-related skills such as getting on and off the school bus, standing in a lunch line and socializing with other soon-to-be kindergarteners. And while the kids are playing, parents can visit the NC 529 booth to gather insight on how to start a college savings account.

Learn about Saving for College

The Kick-Off to Kindergarten event isn’t just for students; parents can benefit from attending the event as well. It’s important to start saving for college as early as possible; opening an NC 529 College Savings account can help students make their dreams of higher education a reality. The earlier an account is open the better. By enrolling in the NC 529 Plan, parents have access to a tax-advantaged, straightforward way to save for their child’s college education.  It only takes $25 to open an account and friends and family members are able to contribute to the account, too. There is no better birthday or holiday present than a contribution toward a loved one’s future.

To learn more about how to open an NC 529 account, stop by the booth at the Kick-Off to Kindergarten event or visit NC529.org.
