Western North Carolina College App Days

We're offering a support initiative to better serve our students in Western North Carolina impacted by Hurricane Helene. Many colleges will waive application fees for applicants in select counties from Dec. 4 at 7:30 a.m. to Dec. 6 at 5 p.m. when applying through CFNC.org. For information, please refer to the list of colleges waiving application fees and counties included. You can also utilize our resource toolkit for educators.

Counties included in this WNC admissions initiative and eligible for the application fee waivers: Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Clay, Cleveland, Gaston, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Lincoln, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Swain, Transylvania, Watauga, Wilkes, and Yancey.

Students, parents, and educators — please note that a student will be prompted to put in a permanent mailing address on the admissions application. If you have evacuated due to Helene and reside in a county outside of the list above, be sure to list the county where your permanent address is located so you can utilize the fee waiver.

Application Fee Waivers

To use the WNC College Application Days fee waiver, you must reside in one of the counties mentioned above. This relates to your permanent address, as some students have temporarily evacuated elsewhere. Below are the colleges waiving fees for the three College Application Days.
